Pain Cave!

This weekend I found my way to the Pain Cave, and entered. I have to say that it was a well spent time. After the past few weeks of traveling, high stress, sickness and no exercise I found myself yearning for the cave.  Yesterday I found it but it wasn’t so bad; I was running a 42x17 and that was a bit steep for where I am with my fitness so I didn’t reach the pain cave fully. I finished sixth on a really fast and fun course, but I expect better. Today I really found the entrance to the cave and entered . I stayed there for 45 mins.

The race was out at Louisville rec center and the promoters built it to cause pain. The race course was  very flowy with  two BIG run ups, actually three but you could ride it if you could carry your speed, and BUMMMPPPYYYY sections.

The start was fast, Colin drilled it and we all followed. I let Carlos pull me around a bit. On the run ups I buried myself and  made the boys feel the pain of the “Long legs”. I sat third for a while and then I crashed in the sand pit. I landed on my left side and I knew I was going to have a problem holding third. Long story short, I sat in the back of the pain cave and tried to hold Carlos off but he got me at the end. My body is in a world of hurt right now but the good news is that the legs and lungs are coming around.

Mad props to Routine Legs Work today. Pretty gusty wind today and the temp was flexing heavily. At one point I thought it was going to snow. I rubbed in the Flahute and layered up. It didn’t take long for it to kick in and before I knew it I was only wearing my kit. I was super warm (pre race and post) the whole race and it really helped maintain body temp. Tonight I will be rubbing Flahute on my back (all week actually). If you have not used RLW products you better get on board soon. That stuff is AWESOME and is a great price compared to other products out there. As a matter of fact I think that they may be the cheapest.
