Get your ASS over the PASS

Killer weekend! Went to Winter Park for a night of fun and then rode the single speed home. Here is how it all laid out.
The ride started out rough. We started late, within 5 mins of leaving we had a flat tire. After we fixed it and got going we realized that no land speed records were going to be broken.
The total ride time was somewhere around 8 hours and pedal time was like 6 1/2 hours.
Overall a killer ride that I would do again.
Back to the story. After reaching the top, we felt a bit of rain and at 12000 feet that's not good. We booked out of there and found a few small snow fields to cross and some trusstles that made your testicles crawl all the way up into your body cavity. On the first trestle I rode close to the edge to get a good look. It was a few thousand feet of drop so I refocused on the middle. The pic is the second trestle (see facebook fro this one). I know you can't tell how far up we were, but if you notice there are no trees.
If anyone wants to ride this let me know. I'm in! Just make sure that it is not your second ride of the year. One of the riders that was with us was named Chad and it was his second ride. Long story short, his wife picked him up on the other side of the pass.
The ride was fantastic until we hit the bottom of the pass. As we turned on to the dirt road it started to pour! Lighting and thunder was abundant and my heart was racing. I was running a 32 X20 and found myself spinning 100 RPMs for the next 10 miles.
It felt like I was in Hell of the North. The rain was warm and I have to say I was having a great time.
We made it Rollinsville and took a break while the storm pushed away from us. We decided to push on, due to more climbing ahead of us. By the time we were done climbing we were dried out and ready to go down hill.
We rode into Golden Gate State Park and had some wicked fast descending on our fat tires. After weaving around we ran into Drew Hill which is 1.5 miles of crazy steepness! I made it about 1/2 way and had to walk. Travis was a beast and rode the whole thing!
The rest of the way home the skis became darker and as we hit Golden the rain started coming down.
I headed for home and raced the rain (I won).
Some great riding with great friends!
Routine Leg Works has a new product for "rear" and it worked very well! I would recommend it in a sec! I think they should call it "taint nothing". Because there was never a thought or pain that crossed my mind while riding 80 miles on rocky trails.
