Rounding up Bunnies

School is fast approaching and I find myself jumping out of bed in the morning to get the last of the morning rides in. Today, just like every morning, I found peace, warmth, and a smile on my face as the sun rose over the plains.
I have been doing a lot of road riding and today I decided to hit the dirt again. My gravel rides around here are not all gravel. I have to hook up bike trails, roads, and horse paths. We have had a ton of rain and all of the grasses and plants are to tall to ride some of the horse paths so today I was mostly on the bike paths. I even went out onto the roads and rode the gravel sides.

As the sun was coming up, bunnies were waking up and sunning themselves. I have never seen so many rabbits in my life. I guess the mild winter helped out. The good about all the bunnies is that there are no large kitty cats around, so when I hit those trails early in the A.M. I am not worried about running into one (not that I have yet, that I know of). The bad is that I am dodging, or they are dodging me,them and it can make it a little sketchy. I really do not like bunny blood on my frame. Um, Bunny Blood? Could be a new band name.

School starts back up on Monday and I am not that excited about losing my morning rides. I am going to have to move to evening rides, which is not going to be easy for me.
My biggest fear is that I am going to lose my base. Cross season starts in 5 weeks and I have goals this year! My evening rides are going to be short and intense!
I have thought that maybe I could get up really early and ride but that has only been a thought. Riding in the early morning darkness intrigues me but training for cross is more then just riding on the trail. I kinda need to see.

This weekend I am going to Winter Park with friends and we are going to ride from Winter Park back to Golden over Rollins Pass. We are doing this on cross bikes or MTB. I am going to ride my GF SS. I am hoping that I am not making a critical mistake by not bringing gears.
Oh well, live and learn!
