Went something like this:
Good warm, call up, GO! DOG!!!!!! (a kid let his dog go and ran out in the front of 20 single speeders sprinting into the first 180 degree corner). Hit the first hill in 1st, hit the first gopher hole, bike blows up! Everyone passes me while I wait for tools to fix a triple mech.
The 3's started 2 mins behind us and by the time I had the bike fixed (thanks Brian Gary) they were 30 secs ahead of me.
The new plan was to catch as many 3s as possible and maybe some single speeders. I knew I would have to dig deep and this would be my first true test of where I stand physically and mentally.
Long painful story short. I finished 12th in the SS cat and passed a few cat 3's. I am happy with my effort and feel confident that I could have finished much higher if I would not have had the problems.
My thoughts are that now I have all the mechanicals out of the way for the season. I also need to buy a few new bike items!
I cannot wait until next weeks races. One in Boulder at the new Valmont park, the other is up at elevation. Both should be AWESOME!
