That is what I had at yesterdays race. No warm due to a headset that I was fixing. The race started, about 15 of us, and a way we went. I didn't want to go from the gun to hard because I really wanted to see a few guys chase and then pop.
Well, I state fourth waiting, waiting, waiting. Jesse and Carlos started to go and I could not wait any longer. I got around the guy in front of me and pinned it. I closed the gap to about a 2 seconds and then the lead started to fill in.
I rode hard and felt good but the legs just would not turn over like I wanted. Jesse and Carlos rode away on lap two and I just put my head down and pushed, focusing on smooth corners and attacking every little climb. I finished 3rd, not bad for how I was feeling.
It was an eye opener for this weekend. Tonight I ran earns and taking a break. Tomorrow i will get out for a spin and try to blow out the legs. Saturday is going to be a killer race. Hard with hills, huge sssssssand pits, big barriers on crazy off camber sections and beer.
I may gear down if my legs aren't feeling it. At least that way I can spin like crazy and maybe hold onto a wheel or two.
