No excuses here.
Let's just jump right into racing. The cross season started out great for me. A few wins some great courses with lots of mud, some super competition, great friends to race, bullshit, and drink beer with, and after getting the Raven Cycle Werks single speed dialed, a solid bike.
So overall a pretty good season. I have to admit that I faded physically this year. I guess I'm getting old and can't hold the fitness or maybe I didn't have the overall fitness I needed. I still finished top single speeder behind the Gates Carbon guys which I think says something (around 8th) but more important is the teamhttp://routinelegworks.wordpress.com/ finished 2nd overall in the team comp! Way to go boys!! The single speed racers are really great guys and fun to heckle and race against. I am really looking forward to next year! Maybe I should Cat up. It might make me faster. Nah!
Speaking of next year. I am planing on racing the Rocky Mt endurance series. Yes, on a single speed. The Breck 100 has me nervous already but when the time comes I'll know if I'm ready. May do the Firecracker 50 as a test. Of course I'm still thinking about a few Winter Park racing. They are always a good vibe and lots of cool people. Maybe this year we can do a race and then ride over the pass home. It's only like 80 miles after a 2 1/2 hour race HTFU!
As of today I built my road bike back up, hung up one of the cross bikes and am in the process of a new ride.
2012 goals will be to ride 7-10 hours a week, race and win, have a blast doing both and drink some Colorado or Minnesota beer in between. Did I mention eating whatever the hell I want!
The above pics are from either the Colorado Cross DEATH ride, Rollins pass, racing, or riding in my backyard.
